Technology Tools Used to Keep Classrooms Connected
Technology resources help to facilitate Standards-Based curriculum and on-going relationships between Stillwater and St. Paul public schools.  Through teacher modeling students learn about:
  1. Appropriate content
  2. Copyrights
  3. Confidentiality

Below are some examples of how teachers and students can use technology to keep their classrooms connected all year.

  • Message Centers:Students are able to use a blog to send and receive messages relating to standards-based curriculum, special projects and as a means to build relationships

  • What is a blog? The term "blog" is derived from "Web log."  On the joint websites,  entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order.

  • Podcasts:An online audio blog.  A digital recording of a radio broadcast or similar program, made available on the Internet for downloading to a personal audio player/computer.

  • Video Projects:On example is a virtual school tour.  Teachers and students create a virtual “Tour of Our School” so their partnered school can see and discuss the culture of each school.  Principals may use this on the school’s website as way to show prospective parents what their school looks like.

  • Digital Photos:Digital photos are used to show parents activities students are involved in when they go on their classroom exchanges.  They are also used in mystery photo projects, school tours and to identify constellations and animals.  They are also used as illustrations in group stories.

  • Videoconferencing:Videoconferencing is a real-time communication where classrooms connect using a computer, videoconferencing unit, projector, large screen and microphones.  During the “live” videoconference, students communicate back and forth in their Friendship Groups.

Please note: students are communicating in a highly structured environment with teacher supervision.
