Dear Parent/Guardian, We are pleased to have your child participating in a year-long educational exchange between Stillwater and St. Paul Public Schools. The program matches fourth grade classrooms in both districts throughout the 2006/2007 school year and is funded using integration revenue tied to the Minnesota Desegregation Rule. This partnership will use astronomy curriculum as a shared academic component for both classrooms. The partnership will also contain a relationship component, helping students develop meaningful connections with one another in a structured environment utilizing curriculum developed and delivered by CLIMB Theatre. In addition to two “face-to-face” interactions, including visits to the Wellstone Center for Community Building and the Como Planetarium, classrooms will use technology to continue to communicate with one another throughout the school year. We are excited to offer this opportunity for students to share the science of astronomy, to share about themselves and to learn from a collaborative working environment. As with all classroom partnerships, parent chaperones are always welcomed and greatly appreciated.
